To provide a professional and responsive finance support service to one or more Service Areas within the Chief Executive and Inclusive Economy Directorates.
Working closely with Service Based Colleagues, you will be heavily involved in monitoring and reporting of the Council’s Revenue Budget and Capital Programme, providing the necessary support to Cost Centre Managers but also objective review and, where necessary, challenge.
You will contribute to the annual budget setting process and year-end closure of accounts (including assisting with External Auditor queries).
You will be a key part of a close knit and high performing Team and will be provided with the training and support necessary for this important Role
You will have a pleasant, helpful and responsive disposition along with good communication skills (both verbally and in writing)
We are looking for someone that has experience of using IT based financial management systems as you will prepare and process journal and virement adjustments on the Council’s Civica Financials System.
You will have experience of analysing large amounts of financial data using spreadsheet packages and making use of the findings thereof.
You will possess high level of numerical reasoning skills
You will have, or be actively heading towards, a recognised professional Accounting Qualification (AAT or equivalent) to ensure awareness and understanding of key accountancy principles and practices
The successful candidate will need the ability to work on their own initiative and to work flexibly in order to meet service demands and fluctuations in workloads
