We have an opportunity for a Financial Services Manager to join our team.

Reporting to our Head of Finance, you will manage the financial services team which covers accountancy, accounts payable and cashiers. You will play a key role in the overall management of the financial performance of the Council including the completion of the annual accounts, preparation of revenue and capital budgets and ensure the effective management and control of our corporate financial systems.

To be successful in this role you will be a fully qualified CCAB accountant and a member of a recognised accountancy body. You will have previous experience of financial management ideally in a local government environment or in a similar sector, as well as having excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. You must be able to collate and analyse information, problem solve and make informed and well-judged decisions.

You will have previous experience of compiling and managing the process for statutory year end statements, liaising with external auditors, excellent knowledge of current relevant legislation and the CIPFA professional codes of practice covering all aspects of local authority finance and accounting.

As we transition to a new way of working this role will be based at our main office in Braintree, Essex but hybrid/homeworking options will be available subject to the business needs of the role.
