Lincolnshire County Council has a very exciting opportunity for a dedicated finance professional to join us as a Strategic Finance Manager in our Corporate finance team. This is a leadership position that will play a crucial role in taking an already progressive local authority forward whilst maintaining its sound record of financial management.

Lincolnshire County Council has embarked on an exciting and demanding programme of transformation to take the organisation forward so we are in a period of change.  We are looking for a highly motivated finance professional to be a valuable addition to our finance team.   If you have experience of working in public sector finance, the ability to lead people, a sound technical knowledge of local government finance and accounting codes of practice and a determination to drive improvement then this is the job for you.

Reporting to the Head of Finance – Corporate, you will, amongst other things, lead on co-ordinating:

  • the annual budget setting process across the Financial Services Team
  • the monthly financial performance reporting process across the Financial Services Team for both revenue and capital budgets
  • the annual closure of accounts process across the Financial Services Team
  • the annual production of the statutory Statement of Accounts
  • the production of corporate, council-wide financial information and statistics
  • the work of the posts you manage within the Corporate Team

The ideal candidate will be a CCAB (or CIMA) qualified accountant however we welcome applications from any suitably experienced candidates who are expecting to qualify soon and meet all of the other requirements. We are looking for candidates who possess strong technical accounting skills and a knowledge of accounting in a local government environment, as well as financial analysis, information technology and report writing skills. Also important is experience of managing people and tasks to ensure that key deadlines are met. We are looking for a very good communicator who is able to positively influence others and who can take a pragmatic approach to sound decision making.

You will be  given a nominated contractual work base and once current restrictions are lifted you will be required to commute to this work base when necessary.
