Overview

This is an exciting time to be joining the Corporate Finance team. The new Council has ambitious plans to help shape a post-Covid environment to meet the service needs of our residents and local communities, as well as supporting sustainable development in the County.

Being a newly formed unitary Council, provides a unique opportunity to deliver a coordinated approach to support the local recovery, town centre regeneration to meet future needs, tackling climate change and ensuring the Council can meet the needs of residents and service users whilst also delivering value for money to the local taxpayer.

About us

In order to help achieve these aims we need ambitious candidates across a range of Corporate Finance roles to help provide a strong corporate framework that helps the organisation to deliver its objectives.

From the financial support of major projects to technical financial advice to enable the Council to be innovative in its approach. From ensuring strong financial controls are in place to helping the Council to be as tax efficient as it can be.

About the role

As part of this role you will need to have the following experience:

CCAB Qualified

  • Lead a team of 3 to coordinate the preparation of the Statement of Accounts.
  • Lead and coordinate the external audit process for the council
  • Manage the implementation of new and changes to International Financial Reporting Standards, CIPFA Code and Accounting and Audit regulations along with its impact on the Council.

To provide technical and professional advice to Heads of Service, Budget managers and other officers within the Council, in support of decision making.

About you

If you are enthusiastic, customer-focussed and ambitious, with significant experience of working in a Public Sector environment (preferably Local Government), excellent communication & problem-solving skills, and experience of working in a dynamic environment, we would like to hear from you if you are interested in this role!
