Bristol City Council – Finance Manager

Bristol has ambitious plans for delivery of new housing across the City, increasing the availability and affordability of homes to meet increasing demand. The Council is also landlord to 27,000 social housing stock, as well as a wholly-owned Housing Company, and partner organisations to deliver on innovative ways of delivering solutions to the housing crisis facing the City.

To support this, Bristol are recruiting a Finance Manager, who will partner with Directors and budget managers across the Housing and Landlord services of the Council, and will also have key involvement in a range of significant and exciting housing delivery projects. Reporting to the Senior Business Partner, the key responsibilities for the role include;

  • Leading the delivery of a robust financial and management accounting service
  • Supporting senior stakeholders in the strategic and operational development of the service, identifying opportunities to support service delivery improvements
  • Providing key financial support to capital projects, including the development of business cases and options appraisals
  • Overseeing revenue and capital budgets in line with the MTFP, Capital Strategy, and transformation programmes

To be suitable for this role you need to be a fully qualified customer-focused finance professional with the ability to build relationships and influence senior stakeholders. You will have proven experience of complex budget preparation, and the drive to create a value adding culture within a dynamic service area.

These roles are able to work remotely for the majority of the time, with occasional trips to the office. These are anticipated to be around once a month or less. Any journeys to the office would be at the employees own expense. Part-time working arrangements can also be accommodated with these roles.
