The London Ambulance Service NHS Trust (LAS) is a unique and complex emergency service network serving one of the world’s most dynamic and diverse cities and responding to over 2 million 999 calls per year. In addition they are the current provider for NHS 111 Integrated Urgent Care services in both  South East London and North East London answering  more than 1.2 million 111 integrated urgent care calls a year.   Demands on urgent and emergency care providers across the capital are increasing, and the Trust is developing new innovative services to provide care closer to home for patients.  This has required the Trust to evolve its operating model and a number of exciting opportunities have arisen through this restructure.

The Head of Finance Business Planning & Corporate Transformation will be working to the Chief Finance Officer, as the operational lead for the development and delivery of an annual business planning process, which entails engaging at the Executive and Non-Executive Director level.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and professional advice to ensure the whole Trust is engaged and aligned through the planning process with the critical deliverables required to deliver the strategy.
  • Leading the Trust response to the Carter review focused around the development of staff training and development, effective fleet management and creation of the digital ambulance service
  • Take the lead on the identification and delivery of the Trust’s cost improvement programme to realise both cashable savings and productivity improvements.

This is an exciting and challenging position for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, demanding and highly flexible environment.  You will be a part of making life better for Londoners by helping the Trust to achieve its vision of becoming a world-class ambulance service for a world class city.

The successful candidate could come from a variety of backgrounds from within the NHS or the wider health sector.  This role could be well suited to a candidate coming with an operational background or someone with a finance background who has led on significant programmes of work and delivered CIP’s.  You will have the confidence and gravitas to bring people within the organisation together to reach commons goals.  Having the tenacity and positive style to deliver in a challenging financial environment is critical, as is the ability to delicately influence a wide ranging group.

Please contact our recruitment partner Adrian Watts from Allen Lane for an informal discussion.
