Whilst experience of local government is desirable more important to us is your drive to support the Council in moving towards its objective of becoming Financially Sustainable and hence a need to demonstrate enterprising and innovative skills alongside strong financial management skills.

The roles will provide professional financial services to support the full budget cycle of budget development including developing financial business cases for budget proposals; budget monitoring including the ongoing review of delivery of savings; and financial year end.

Our team of Accountants provide support to the full range of Council services with the expectation that successful candidates will be supporting a diverse portfolio of services including, but not limited to, Adults and Children's Social Care, Schools and Learning, the Councils Capital Programme, Corporate Services and cross cutting Transformation Programmes. 

In addition, a number of the roles being recruited to have staff management responsibilities and so strong people management skills are required in these roles as they are responsible for the day to day management, motivation and supporting of the development of staff within the Finance Team in order to secure efficient performance of duties.

Ideally you will be CCAB qualified (preferably CIPFA) although applications from candidates with demonstrable experience are also encouraged with support available to the right candidate to undertake their professional training.
