Wokingham Borough Council is looking for a dynamic senior finance business partnering professional to lead the Council’s finance support to the Resources & Assets Directorate and the Council’s Change Programme.

As a qualified accountant with significant experience in public sector accounting, you will be responsible for leading a team of accountancy professionals in supporting to the Resources & Assets Directorate and the Council’s Change Programme.  This is a key role in an area facing challenging budget control in the light of high demand and demographic pressures. 

You will be the key support to both the Deputy Chief Executive, Assistant Directors with a strong dotted line to Assistant Director, Digital & Change; you will be the strategic financial advisor to the Directorate Leadership Team, providing timely and high-quality strategic and technical financial advice, ensuring the continuity of sound financial management, governance, and value for money.  You will provide finance oversight and scrutiny to the improvement programme, an in-house review of processes with the directorate.

Reporting to the Head of Finance Business Partnering, your role will include the development and management of staff, provision of guidance and support to the directorate budget managers as well as developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders.

About you:

To be considered for the role you must be a qualified accountant (exceptionally QBE will be considered) with management and leadership experience some of which would have been gained in the local government sector.  Able to demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills, strong communication and presentation skills you will also have an outstanding track record in delivering a customer focused service.
