Wealden is a large rural district council located in a stunning area of the South East of England reaching from the south coast either side of Eastbourne and the South Downs National Park up to the High Weald and Ashdown Forest along the borders of Tunbridge Wells and East Grinstead in the north.

As a respected, forward-thinking local authority, Wealden places strong financial management at the heart of everything we do. This is an excellent opportunity for a Finance Professional to lead on key areas such as budget setting, budget monitoring, and final accounts.

Working with the Financial Services Manager, you will manage the preparation of quarterly forecasts and updates to the Medium Term Financial Strategy, prepare grant claims and government returns and, and liaise with the external auditor on final accounts, grant claims, project work etc. You will be responsible for providing support to the Council’s expanding project streams and supporting budget managers including giving financial advice on new commercial activities, income generation, and undertaking capital and revenue appraisals for new initiatives.

You will either hold, or will be working towards a CCAB accountancy qualification (or qualified by experience) with considerable experience of preparing management accounts, forecasts, budgets and final accounts, preferably in a local authority.
