3 years FTC starting mid-2021

If you are a chartered accountant with significant external audit experience you could make a major contribution to public accountability as statutory auditor in these aid-dependent UK Overseas Territories of St Helena and Ascension.

Enjoying unique lifestyle opportunities, St Helena Island is a self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. Although better placed to develop economically and socially as a result of opening our international airport in 2017, we are not at the stage of self-sufficiency and therefore remain dependent on UK government aid.

This demanding but rewarding role requires professional leadership in financial and performance audit. As Chief Auditor, or Auditor General, you will hold a constitutional office independent of Government. You will audit the financial statements of public bodies, promoting public accountability, providing advice to the Public Accounts Committee, and conducting performance audits.

A qualified professional Chartered accountant you will have significant engagement leadership experience delivering ISA compliant external audits, ideally in a public sector environment, and managing assurance or consulting assignments. You will also have excellent communication and relationship management skills with the ability to develop trust and confidence with stakeholders.

In addition, you must demonstrate our core values of fairness, integrity and teamwork and use your diverse expertise and experiences to ensure your time on the Island has the broadest benefit to St Helena.  As an officer funded by the UK Government through the Technical Co-Operation Programme you will be expected to share your knowledge and skills beyond the workplace contributing to workforce, community and capacity development in St Helena.

Our Benefits Package Includes:

  • Salary: £75k pa, depending on experience and qualifications
  • An International Supplement, full details of which are in the Overseas Vacancy Information at www.sthelenacareers.co.uk
