The Peak District National Park is a landscape of contrasts, from the tranquillity of limestone plateaus to gritstone climbing edges, peaty moors to hay meadows with a rich history shaped by people and industry for centuries. The Park is enjoyed by millions looking for both adventure and a breathing space to escape and is home to some 38,000 residents.

Our job is to speak up and care for the Peak District National Park for all to enjoy forever. As the original National Park, we have a pioneering spirit, and our role is as important today as it was 70 years ago when we were designated. Nurturing the place and its many communities is rewarding and can also be challenging; we seek to continuously improve so we can confidently lead the way for the future.

We’re now looking for a qualified Accountant to join our team in Bakewell and support the running of our financial and accounting processes and drive our continuous adoption of best practice. This is an exciting and challenging time at the Park. The Authority has recently undergone a management restructure and is looking to drive forward sustainable change.

You’ll have the chance to contribute to the long term sustainability and drive change in breath-taking surroundings supported by teams of passionate individuals all working to conserve, protect and enhance this beautiful area of our country.

We’re looking for a highly motivated person to support the Head of Finance and the finance service; you must be CCAB qualified, and provide an efficient, effective and dynamic finance management service to the Authority including improving financial understanding across the park.

You will support the Head of Finance to manage the management accounting and financial accounting functions of the Peak District National Park Authority.

You will be a key member of the team, working on a number of projects to drive improvements at the Authority including a budget review, developing the finance IT systems and the Capital Strategy refresh.

Therefore, we are looking for someone with experience of producing management accounts and working to provide an excellent finance business partner service to the Authority. You will need to have developed communication skills to help non-financial managers to understand financial data and some experience of project/ change management processes. There may also be some work on the completion of statutory accounts and external audit, depending on the start date.

Hours: 37 hours per week for 6 months (applications from those wanting to work part-time will also be considered).

Flexible working options: A range of flexible working options are available with flexi-time and some homeworking offered as standard.

Closing Date: 3rd May 2021
