Babergh and Mid Suffolk Councils are two ambitious Local Authorities who are working together to deliver services to residents more effectively. Commercial activity and the delivery of a 'profit for purpose' are central to the future success and viability of local services.

To support this, the councils have set up a company structure seeking to deliver thriving and aspirational commercial and residential development within the districts.

The Role:

Sitting alongside two elected members, two other Non-Executive Directors and a Member of Councils' Executive Team your role as a Non-Executive Director will require you to be a source of knowledge, insight and judgement as the company brings forward land for development. The role is focused upon sustainable commercial development to deliver good quality jobs and support the development of skills within the district whilst also delivering a return to the company's shareholders. You will provide support to the Chair in governance and board effectiveness and contribute constructive challenge on strategy and the financial performance of the business.

You will have property, sustainability, risk and leadership skills in a relevant industry or sector. You will have strong intellect, with the confidence to challenge while also being collaborative with an ethical and sustainable approach to property development. Relevant experience could come from the financial, property development, construction or similar asset holding sectors.
