Finance Business Partner

An interesting new opening has arisen at a North West Council for an experienced finance business partner to ensure accurate and timely financial management and reporting of Covid-19 grant income and expenditure.

This post is responsible for the oversight and development of financial controls to ensure that Covid-19 funding is accounted for appropriately, that expenditure is subject to appropriate governance, and value for money is achieved.  Additionally, it will lead the monthly reporting processes, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely forecasting and reporting and analysis of variance against budget to inform decision making in the organisation.  Importantly, the person carrying out the role will play a key role in engaging and communicating with stakeholders across the business.

You should be a qualified accountant, or equivalent, with significant experience of working within a public sector finance environment.  You should be able to demonstrate strong exposure to routine management accounting processes within a large, complex organisation, with direct responsibility for forecasting budgeting and forecasting.  Experience of transactional financial data interrogation will be very useful.  Owing to the range of stakeholders involved you will need to show a high degree of organisation and the strong communications skills to rapidly build effective working relationships.
