Richmond and Wandsworth councils are an innovative organisation, which operates under a shared workforce across its service areas. They are constantly thinking of new ways to deliver high quality services to over half a million residents and have successfully increased resident satisfaction whilst also reducing costs.
Richmond and Wandsworth are now looking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their corporate finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a newly or part-qualified accountant to diversify their corporate accounting experience.
Delivering exceptional customer care is at the height of the agenda for both councils and finance is a key factor in driving their vision forward. The technical accounting team is responsible for a broad remit including - but not limited to: statement of accounts, treasury management and cash flow management, taxation, collection fund, asset accounting and capital financing. Within this role, you will have the opportunity to rotate between specialisms, in order to develop your skills and add value in multiple areas. The biggest area of opportunity for both councils right now is the Treasury Management function. The new recruit will be taking on this area with guidance from the Principal Accountant. Experience in this area would be advantageous, but not essential, as training would be provided.
As Senior Accountant, you will report to the Principal Accountant – deputising for them when necessary. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your people management skills, as you will be liaising with multiple stakeholders from within both councils. This is an exciting time to join a highly motivated team, which is committed to achieving the visions set for both councils.
For this role, you will need to have a background in technical accounting and an ability to communicate complex financial information to people without a finance background. You will also need to have demonstrable experience of closing accounts and using the financial information you have produced to influence decision making.
Richmond and Wandsworth are looking for people that are not afraid of being ambitious. They pride themselves on having an open and supportive culture and encourage you to challenge yourself to be the best you can be.
Starting salary will depend on level of experience and qualification.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a virtual interview the week commencing Monday 29th March. To apply, please send a CV and supporting statement – no longer than two pages, outlining your experience to email@example.com by Monday 15th March.
