About the job

Financial Analysts ensure that Google makes sound financial decisions. As a Financial Analyst, your work, whether it's modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, is used by our leaders to make strategic company decisions. While working on multiple projects at a time, you are focused on the details while finding creative ways to solve big picture challenges.

The Central Cloud Finance team supports broader Cloud Finance teams as well as Cloud senior leadership and controls the Cloud P&L, including Cost of Sales, Payroll/non-Payroll OpEx, Allocations and Headcount. We drive modeling, forecasting and BI efforts and drive data science initiatives to advise on optimal resource allocation and drive accountability. Our deep business knowledge, data mastery, and keen insight provide us a seat at the table as integral partners and strategic advisers to the Google Cloud leadership team.

As a Technical Financial Analyst, you will be devising, automating and owning financial models, statistical and/or driver-based forecasts and variance analyses. You'll gather insights into P&L items and historical trends across teams and functions, synthesize and present them to Finance leads, Business VPs/Directors, Chiefs of Staff, etc. You'll have data engineering responsibilities and be tasked with designing and developing pipelines, testing environments, analytical frameworks and maintaining organization-wide reporting infrastructures.

The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide concrete recommendations and support decision-making across different layers of the P&L as well as ad hoc analyses through advanced analytics, modeling, and probabilistic simulations. Proactively research new ways of modeling data to unlock actionable insights or improve processes.
  • Design, build, launch and optimize analytical/simulation frameworks, and business intelligence solutions spanning extraction, storage, transformation and visualization layers, applying the latest industry best practices.
  • Engage broadly with the organization to identify, prioritize, frame, and structure complex, ambiguous problems where advanced analytics projects or tools can have the biggest impact.
  • Support Cloud FP&A team on monthly and quarterly close process. Monitor performance indicators, highlight trends, and provide timely and accurate reporting and analysis to finance and business leadership.
  • Leverage technical expertise to provide quantitative analysis around financial drivers and growth and budget consumption trends.
