This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to lead, shape and deliver the strategies and objectives of an efficient and effective Audit and Risk function ensuring an independent appraisal function across the Council.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the independence and objectivity of the service, providing overall assurance on the effectiveness of the Councils controls and systems, in order to discharge its statutory responsibilities

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Director of Finance (Audit & Risk) within the Finance and ICT Division of Commissioning Communities and Policy. The successful candidate should be a self-motivated decisive individual who will lead, challenge and drive initiatives forward and is able to demonstrate a successful long-term approach to the delivery of sound internal controls and financial management. They should have substantial experience of working at a strategic level within a large organization and will be expected to provide expertise and guidance to elected members and senior officers.
