About the role…

Publica is a unique place to work – we’re a local government organisation with a twist! Publica wants to transform the way local services are delivered. To help do this we have started to fundamentally rethink the way we design our services in the digital era so that Publica is a customer focused organisation driven by real user needs.

Four partner Councils (Cheltenham Borough Council, Forest of Dean, Cotswold and West Oxfordshire District Councils) have created Publica Group Ltd to deliver more efficient and improved services. The Councils will continue to be responsible for the standard of services that are provided as well as setting strategy, policy and making decisions.

The Business Support Services Group is responsible for direct delivery of a very wide range of services across 8 different clients. Whilst this role is primarily focused in supporting the Finance Teams you would collaborate closely with colleagues in ICT and HR.

Publica is seeking to recruit an ambitious and dynamic individual who has both the relevant qualifications and experience to deliver outstanding, customer focused financial services to the organisation we support. You will be responsible for the day-to-day planning and management of all financial-related activities as well as provide advice and acting as a deputy for the S151 Officers in three of the Councils.

You will need…

  • Relevant degree level qualification or five years’ experience in a relevant field
  • Knowledge and understanding of large public or private sector organisations
  • CCAB / CIPFA qualifications
  • Experience of Local Government Finance or accounting in complex environment
  • Proven track record of managing and leading a team in an evolving service where change will be the norm
  • Actively encourage innovative thinking to support an approach towards learning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
