The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) was created on the 2 September with the merger of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development.
The new Department promotes the interests of British citizens, safeguards the UK’s security, defends our values, reduces poverty and tackles global challenges with our international partners. Your role will involve closing down ledgers and handling accounting system issues for a Department with 17,300 staff and over 285 offices worldwide – in the run up to the UK leaving the EU single market and customs union.
The role
Accountancy systems and process roles rarely carry this level of complexity.
Working closely with National Audit Office, FCDO auditors and other key stakeholders; your key task will be to lead your small Systems Accounting Team and deliver our month end accounts. Naturally, you will also look to reduce processing times and speed up issue resolutions, while developing ever-better in-month analysis and exception reporting.
Another facet to the role will be to maintain the integrity of our financial data whilst supporting the programme team with testing during the design of the new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
About you
CCAB qualified (or equivalent), you will bring a wealth of technical experience from a core financial department. Knowledge of Oracle business suite would be very useful. But whatever your background, your strong organisational and analytical skills will be matched by a confident management style.
