The Council is building the UK’s first super energy efficient Passivhaus swimming pool and leisure complex, St Sidwell’s Point.  We are also working with strategic partners towards our target of becoming a Net Zero Carbon City by 2030.  We’re creating pioneering Passivhaus social and market housing and working with Homes England to deliver 12,000 new homes within the City over the next 20 years through the Liveable Exeter Garden City project.  We continue to deliver major projects like these, whilst delivering the day-to-day services that our residents and communities depend on.  That makes our Council a hugely exciting place to be.

With more challenges ahead, we need a qualified accountant to join the Finance team who will support our work.  As part of the team, you will be providing high quality financial advice, information, analysis and interpretation specifically to the Council’s commercial entities.

To be the Council’s lead Commercial Accountant supporting its registered companies, which most notably include; Exeter City Group Ltd and Strata Service Solutions Ltd.

The ambition for Exeter City Group is growing to ensure that the group of companies can play a significant role in the Council’s strategic agenda to support the recovery of the city, building properties at pace and scale with low ecological footprints.  Strata Service Solutions Ltd is also a forward-thinking IT support service company, providing its services to Exeter City Council, East Devon District Council and Teignbridge District Council.

You will be responsible for the provision of a complete financial service to the Council’s commercial entities, including production of their annual accounts, budgeting, cash-flow forecasts and strategic financial advice. 

This key role therefore specifically requires commercial accountancy experience and experience of managing multiple stakeholders.

Having a positive proactive approach is key to this critical role, along with excellent communication skills and possess a strong knowledge of financial management techniques.  CCAB Qualified (or equivalent) is required.
