Brighter. Bolder. Birmingham.
Birmingham City Council is the largest local authority in Europe – and we’re on the cusp of something truly special. With an annual spend of over £3billion we’re gearing up for major events such as the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the creation of HS2. Championing economic growth for the city, we’re determined to create a brighter future for all our citizens and at the heart of this ambition lies our Finance team. Join us and you won’t just improve life for 1.1 million people, you’ll help Birmingham become one of the world’s most successful, sustainable cities.
Our vision is for Finance to be a best-in-class function that’s agile, innovative and proactive, as well as diverse and inclusive. This is an incredibly exciting time for us; the opportunities for you to contribute and influence, to make bold and significant changes, are endless. As we change finance services to give customers more control and add value through data analytics and insight, you’ll be at the forefront of achievement and progress.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you’ll provide a high standard of financial support to the Regulation and Enforcement service within the Neighbourhoods Directorate. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll help to lead a small team to deliver our game-changing plans and ensure compliance with legislation. Together, you’ll provide expert analysis and insight, financial modelling, recommendations that influence decisions, and trusted advice to budget holders. Day to day, you’ll be supervising your team, coaching their development and prioritising activity. You’ll also have the chance to support the Finance Manager and deputise when necessary. It all adds up to an exciting role providing excellent business partner support to help us meet our goals.
As a CCAB qualified or equivalent accountant, you’ve advised and supported on a range of operational issues before. You can draw on good knowledge of business partnering, management accounting, commercial thinking, planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance management, as well as relevant legislation. You’ll have excellent people skills to build great relationships with colleagues and get the best out of people. And, as an experienced manager, you’re motivated, caring, politically smart and passionate about what you do.
This is more than your next finance role. It’s a chance to create a brighter, bolder Birmingham.
