Brighter. Bolder. Birmingham.

Birmingham City Council is the largest local authority in Europe – and we’re on the cusp of something truly special. With an annual spend of over £3billion we’re gearing up for major events such as the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the creation of HS2. Championing economic growth for the city, we’re determined to create a brighter future for all our citizens and at the heart of this ambition lies our Finance team. Join us and you won’t just improve life for 1.1 million people, you’ll help Birmingham become one of the world’s most successful, sustainable cities.

Our vision is for Finance to be a best-in-class function that’s agile, innovative and proactive, as well as diverse and inclusive. This is an incredibly exciting time for us; the opportunities for you to contribute and influence, to make bold and significant changes, are endless. As we change finance services to give customers more control and add value through data analytics and insight, you’ll be at the forefront of achievement and progress.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you be part of a small team providing the best possible support to the Council’s Adults Service. Day to day, you’ll help us manage budgets of over £80m across social work teams and in-house care services. To succeed, you’ll need a good grasp of the social care system and the financial needs of multi-agency service teams. You’ll also need the skills and experience to support projects, deputise for the Finance Manager and supervise other staff members, ensuring we get the basics right, each and every time.

Experienced and CCAB qualified or equivalent, you’ll bring significant technical skills and experience. You have in-depth knowledge of the annual cycle of management accounting, planning, budgeting and forecasting. Used to working with budget holders and senior managers, you have the people skills to deliver projects alongside partners. Motivated, articulate and resilient, you’re caring and passionate about your work.

This is more than your next finance role. It’s a chance to create a brighter, bolder Birmingham.
