We are excited and confident for the future of our county – join us!
Our ambition is to put Dorset Council at the heart of our communities and to make Dorset a great place to live, work and visit. We took the first steps and became a new unitary council in April 2019, replacing six councils with one, enabling us to protect front line services and deliver more efficient, accessible and modern public services for our residents.
The Adults and Housing service has annual revenue expenditure of over £122M. This is a key role supporting a service which is facing extraordinary pressures due to growing demand, health changes, Covid impact, complexity and acuity of people needs and at the same time the need to transform and deliver a different offer to the people of Dorset.
As Service Manager for Finance (Adults and Housing Services), you will be the lead for strategic professional support and challenge in equal measure ensuring the continuity of sound financial management, governance and value for money across the directorate and assigned Committees. You will use commercial acumen to work with commissioners, NHS partners and independent care providers to ensure effective relationships that deliver value for money for Dorset Council.
As a qualified accountant and with a strong track record of supporting the development and delivery of service plans that seek to optimise resources, strive for efficiency and cost saving and deliver continuous improvement, you will provide leadership to a team of finance professionals. Previous experience of developing successful outcomes in a public sector environment is essential.
By coming to work for Dorset Council, you can enjoy a fulfilling job as well as a great quality of life, with some of the UK’s most beautiful countryside and beaches on your doorstep. Our flexible approach allows employees to have a great work-life-balance, with your wellbeing at its heart.
