Teachers’ Housing Association – Finance Director

Teachers' Housing Association was established in 1967 and provides rented accommodation for people in housing need, particularly those associated with education. They are committed to providing high quality tenant-focussed services to all those living in their housing, and continuing to adapt to the challenges presented by the pandemic by putting the wellbeing of their tenants at the forefront of their decision making.

It is an exciting time to join, as not only are THA going through an organisational review, they are also progressing a number of significant projects  including developing and implementing a new IT strategy and exploring opportunities for providing  more social housing.

To help ensure delivery of THA’s mission and objectives, they are recruiting a Finance Director to provide effective leadership within the Association, and play a key role in supporting the review. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant difference, and shape the organisation moving forward.

As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Finance Director reports to the Chief Executive, and plays an instrumental role in advising the Board on financial strategy. Key responsibilities include;

  •         Taking the organisational lead for the strategy and deliverance of effective financial management
  •         Providing effective leadership and professional development to the Finance team to ensure service excellence
  •         Developing financial strategy to secure appropriate funding for the delivery of organisational objectives
  •         Leading on the delivery of the annual and the 30-year business plan

To be suitable for the role you need to be fully qualified, with the ability to build influential relationships and demonstrate accountability to Board level. The successful candidate will also have substantial experience operating at a senior level in a finance function within a comparable organisation, and have an in-depth understanding of financial compliance within a regulated environment.

The successful candidate will have the ability to inspire staff through confident, energetic and visible leadership, as well as having experience developing and managing a strong service culture.

To view the THA applicant pack, and for more information about THA and the interview processes, please contact Matthew Swindell (07921 337 926) or Will Ryan (07789 871 864) at Allen Lane for a confidential conversation.

To apply, please send your CV and cover letter to Matthew Swindell at Allen Lane by using the link provided by Sunday 1st November, 2020. The cover letter should be no more than 2 pages and should include why you are interested in the position and why you believe you are suitable.
