The Group Finance Director position is a member of Masco’s finance leadership team and responsible for overseeing the financial operations of assigned business units within Masco Corporation. This position works closely with and supports the Group President and Business Unit leadership in the overall financial and strategic aspects of the businesses under their responsibility. Indirectly, the position also supports Masco’s overall Corporate financial system and structure (e.g., Financial Reporting, Audit and Compliance, FP&A, etc.) and other Corporate administrative functions. This position interfaces with Masco and Business Unit executive leaders, as well as the Corporate finance leaders in Business Development, Financial Reporting, Corporate FP&A, Corporate Control Services, Investor Relations, Internal Audit, General Accounting, Tax and Treasury. The Group Finance Director reports to the Vice President, Controller for Masco Corporation and is located at the Company’s headquarter in the Detroit metropolitan area.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities of the position include the following:

 

Business Planning & Decision-Support

·       Support the planning, execution and continuous improvement of the enterprise-wide corporate annual and long-range strategic planning processes to create shareholder value.

·       Analyze and synthesize plans and results across multiple business units and segments to identify past and future business drivers and trends at the consolidated level for presentation to the Executive management team.

·       Support corporate strategic planning, portfolio, scenario analysis and other business planning and analysis needs related to development of business cases for major enterprise initiatives.

·       Assist the Group President and Business Unit leadership in providing information clarity, analysis and insights to support key business decisions related to major investments and/or changes in financial, operational or strategic direction (e.g. strategic funding requests; capital; growth/exit of lines of business; ERP; M&A/divestitures etc.)

 

Operational & Financial Performance Monitoring and Improvement

·       Assist in the monitoring of the financial, operational and strategic performance of the business units; follow-up on unusual trends and variance to expectations.

·       Continually evaluate, challenge, improve efficiency and financial transparency, and add value to the organization.

·       Conduct routine and ad hoc management reporting and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual key performance indicators and business drivers for presentation to Executive management.

·       Assist the Group President and/or Business Unit leaders in actions to drive improved financial, operational and strategic performance.

 

Financial Control

·       Monitor and conduct on-site reviews of critical balance sheet and income statement accounts and provide input as to the overall control environment at the business units to ensure a sound basis for reliance on the underlying system of internal controls.

·       Liaise and coordinate with respective parties (Business Unit leaders and Masco financial functions such as Financial Reporting, Corporate Control Services, Investor Relations, General Accounting, FP&A, Internal Audit, Tax and Treasury) in ensuring that critical and sensitive issues are resolved adequately and on a timely basis.

·       Assist Financial Reporting, FP&A and Investor Relations on external and management reporting matters as well as providing insights for understanding and explaining business unit and segment reporting financial performance and outlook.

 

Forecasting & Planning

·       Assess the adequacy of and provide the appropriate direction on financial forecasts.

·       Assess and provide feedback and guidance on operational and strategic plans.

·       Assist in the development and execution of any cross-business unit and Platform strategies and initiatives.

 

Talent Management

·       Regularly evaluate Finance talent across the business units and serve as partner to business unit General Managers and Finance leaders on organization talent management and planning.

·       Provide on-going support, coaching and direction to Business Unit Finance leaders and their teams.

·       Managing and mentoring staff and creating a stimulating work environment.

 

Experience and Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting. MBA, CPA preferred.

·       Minimum 10 years of relevant financial and business leadership experience.

·       Proven experience in positions requiring a solid understanding and practical application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

·       Experience effectively working with and presenting information to senior management.

·       Critical Competencies include:

−   Ability to mentor and develop team members

·       Software skills: strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required. Experience with Hyperion HFM Financial Management system preferred, not mandatory.

·       Must be willing to travel up to 35%.
