Our Head of Internal Audit will drive the continued success of our Audit Risk Assurance shared service as well as provide advice and strategic direction to the  senior leaders, the Corporate Leadership Teams and Council Members of the three Councils within the ARA partnership (Gloucestershire County Council, Stroud District Council and Gloucester City Council).

How you’ll help make a difference…

As our Head of Internal Audit you undertake the statutory Chief Internal Auditor role will be responsible for the provision of an exceptional, cost-effective service to the council, our partners and schools / external clients. We will rely on you to ensure the service provided adheres to all applicable standards and regulations including IPPF, IIA and Public Sector Internal Audit Standards.

You will lead a forward-thinking team of highly experienced and diversely-skilled professionals looking to continue the progress made in obtaining an excellent result in our recent EQA conducted by the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (link: https://www.stroud.gov.uk/media/1286800/item-6-appendix-a-eqa-outcome-final-report.pdf)

What we need from you…

We are looking for a highly experienced internal auditor / finance professional with the professional and personal integrity to lead by example with the highest standards of openness, conduct and professionalism. We need someone who can quickly gain the confidence of senior management and elected members as well as someone with excellent leadership and communication skills to motivate and develop your team to reach their full potential.
