Head of Corporate Finance

Allen Lane are currently working with a local authority to recruit a Head of Corporate Finance to support the Director of Finance in the delivery of the council’s strategic vision. At the current time of year, working to develop the Council’s Medium Term Financial Strategy and advising and making recommendations will be a key part of the position.

The Council will be undergoing a change at a senior level so the successful candidate must be able to hit the ground running and have performed at a senior level within local government previously.

As such, key objectives include;

• Providing leadership to staff across the finance function, motivating and establishing strong relationships internally
• Provision of sound financial information and advice to the senior management team, ensuring accuracy and relevancy
• Advising and reporting to elected Members and the Corporate Management Board across a range of financial issues
• Making a positive contribution to a range of corporate projects to further the realisation of the Council’s objectives

CCAB qualified, the successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and motivate and develop the team to deliver their accountancy functions to the required level. Strong strategic skills will be required, with the ability to assess the changing needs for financial resources in the medium to long term. Adaptability will also be key, as the team has recently gone through some internal changes so you will need to work effectively in a potentially challenging environment.
