The Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) is one of the largest UK pension funds with total assets of over £25 billion and is administered by Tameside MBC.
Financial control is an important part of effective governance for GMPF, to underpin the core objective of offering a high quality pension scheme to its members, at a cost which is affordable to its employers.
The LGPS is in the process of fundamental change in its investment arrangements and GMPF, together with its Northern LGPS partners, is leading the way in responding to the Government’s agenda of reform in the LGPS.
This post will play a pivotal role in supporting the transformation of services delivered within Pension Fund Accountancy alongside professional standards and frameworks. The role will lead and advise on strategies for service related improvements that achieve GMPF and partner related priorities and objectives. The role will also support the implementation of new and innovative ways of organising and improving financial management service processes whilst also recognising and promoting the expected benefits.
This post requires strong technical financial skills, a thorough approach to financial modelling and an ability to work to deadlines and motivate staff effectively.
