Deputy Treasurer

Salary: circa £90,000 (negotiable for an exceptional candidate)

In Greater Manchester we have been setting the English devolution agenda – taking on new powers and responsibilities, developing a far reaching and ambitious strategic plan, and working collaboratively with government and partners to achieve our aims. Greater Manchester Combined Authority is at the heart of this. Our Mayor and ten council leaders have responsibility for devolved powers which cover fire, waste, police and crime, transport, health and economic growth. Together, our ambition is to make Greater Manchester one of the best places in the world to grow up, get on and grow old.

We are currently looking to recruit a Deputy Treasurer who will play a key role in our future development. This is a new post which manages our finance function and supports the Treasurer in overseeing other areas such as audit. Reporting to our recently appointed Treasurer, the Deputy Treasurer will work closely with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor and be the financial lead for the Police and Crime Commissioner function. The successful candidate will work closely with senior officers and Members from the 10 authorities in GM as well as develop successful relationships with central government, Transport for Greater

Manchester, the health sector and numerous other agencies and bodies.

This is a role like no other. Whilst being complex and challenging, it is also one of the most exciting and rewarding finance jobs in the country. We are therefore looking for candidates with significant senior finance experience within a local government or Police and Crime Commissioner setting, the skills and credibility to form excellent relationships with a wide array of stakeholders, and the drive and determination to make a real difference across Greater Manchester.

For more information on this role visit www.gmca-leadership.com or contact our advising consultant Luke Judd 0113 205 6077 or Olivia Robinson on 0113 205 6298.

Closing date: 4th October 2019
