Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust provides acute and specialist healthcare in north west London for around a million and a half people every year. Formed in 2007, we are one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, with nearly 11,000 staff.

Our five hospitals – Charing CrossHammersmithQueen Charlotte’s & ChelseaSt Mary’s and The Western Eye – have a long track record in research and education, influencing clinical practice nationally and worldwide. We also have a growing number of community services and provide private healthcare in dedicated facilities on all of our sites, including at the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s.  With our partners, Imperial College London, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and The Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, we form Imperial College Academic Health Science Centre.

The Deputy CFO – Finance Operations will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and directly with the Executive Team and Trust Board members to provide strategic leadership and direction to develop and improve the operational performance of the finance team in order to improve the financial performance of the Trust.  The post-holder will frequently be required to deputise for the CFO both internally and externally whilst providing leadership to the wider finance team. The post-holder will be the finance lead and take forward developments for the business partnering, income and financial services teams.  This will include responsibility for financial planning and reporting, NHS income planning and reporting, statutory accounts and financial transactions.

The successful candidate must be a robust, credible, professionally qualified accountant with exemplary leadership skills, high standards and the ability to influence the board and executive teams.  You must have experience leading multi-function teams and have been responsible for overall financial control of an organisation.  Your significant post-qualification experience will have been gained within a large, complex and public sector organisation as an experienced and inspiring leader.

This is a unique opportunity to join a reorganised leadership team where you will have the responsibility and autonomy to shape the future of the finance department and significant influence upon the future of the Trust.
