SENIOR ACCOUNTANT (Technical and Financial Accounting)

Salary: £41,613 - £46,462 (City Pay Band 7), including Market Pay Supplement of £2,800

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant to perform a key technical role in our finance service. You will be pivotal in preparing annual statement(s) of accounts for the council and other associated legal entities. In addition you will lead the council’s Treasury Management and Cash Accounting teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting for non-current assets, including revaluations and maintaining an asset register. This role will also identify, analyse and report on financial accounting implications of council initiatives, new projects, and new accounting and statutory requirements, including recommendations on system developments and sources of information for decision making purposes.

Using your extensive experience of working in a complex organisation at a high level you will be responsible for providing business-focused technical support to strategic financial decision-making as well as maintaining and developing capital accountingfor all council assets including joint ventures where appropriate.

As a fully qualified CCAB accountant (or with an equivalent qualification) you will bring to the role the ability to deal with change and support new ways of working as well as the skills to communicate in an effective manner.
