Financial Reporting Accountant

oneSource is the innovative partnership established by LBs Bexley, Havering and Newham to provide a range of corporate services. Following the appointment of Simon Pollock as the new Executive Director, and Dave McNamara as the interim Director of Finance, oneSource are looking to recruit a number of qualified highly motivated professionals to help develop the Financial Accounting function in to a centre of excellence for all three authorities.

The intention is to support and develop all finance staff. The range of opportunities that it is intended to provide to staff, includes programme management skills, data analytics, and the development of future finance Leaders supported by external professional bodies as well as a series of in-house programmes to enhance core competences as part of a programme of continuous professional development.

The focus for the finance community within oneSource is to establish centres of excellence of financial and management accounting.

Reporting to the Chief Accountant the Financial Reporting Accountant will be directly responsible for the coordination of the closedown programme, production of the annual statement of accounts and management of the statutory external audit process for Havering. Key responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating and overseeing the financial control regime for the nominated oneSource Council;
• Supporting the Chief Accountant and Head of Finance with member committee reporting;
• Driving through continuous improvement, to ensure a best qualify service;
• Managing and developing a high performing team.

The successful candidate must be a professionally qualified accountant with a strong technical background and exposure to closing accounts within a Local Government setting. Proven experience of driving through change and improvement across a range of stakeholders is essential.
