Empowering People, Innovation and Collaboration
Wiltshire is a thriving county that enables and positively encourages healthy living in strong, inclusive and prosperous communities. We are proud of our heritage and for having a strong community spirit. Over the last decade the council, with its public, private and voluntary sector partners, has improved people’s lives and helped businesses to develop and relocate into Wiltshire. Looking ahead to the next decade, we plan to continue that success where people in communities come together to support each other, take part in events and activities, and take responsibility for what matters to them. We have now created a new post for a Head of Corporate Finance and Deputy Section 151 Officer, which is a pivotal role in continuing our journey.
This newly created role is integral to our modernisation approach, as you will play a leading role in shaping our finance team. As the deputy for the Director of Finance and Procurement for all finance matters, your role will be to set and deliver the strategic vision and direction of the accountancy function and ensure we meet our strategic and operational needs.
This is a really exciting time to join us as we are just going to market for a new Financial Management System which we see as a huge opportunity to drive change both in culture and systems and processes. We are looking for you to set the corporate standards, implement new systems and processes, including our management reporting and accounting. As well as driving continual improvement and provide inspirational leadership to the team and the council’s leadership team.
Your strong local government finance and understanding will drive and guide our approach. For this role we need a future focused leader with a proven ability to set a strong direction and maximise cooperation for change and innovation. We see this role as a stepping stone to move in to a director role. This is a superb opportunity to be at the heart of one of the most exciting and forward thinking Councils in the country and the opportunity to step into a directorship in the near future.
