This is an exciting time to join Rotherham Council.

Here is a great opportunity to work at the heart of the organisation, making a real difference and playing a crucial role shaping the future of the Council.

We have recently reviewed and reorganised the Finance service to ensure that it has the capacity and leadership required to deliver the excellent service that is needed and expected in order to achieve the Council’s future ambitions.

The role will be responsible for all Corporate Finance activity across the Council, including the Council’s Budget and Medium Term Financial Strategy, Capital Programme and Capital Strategy and Financial Accounting.

The role will also be responsible for delivery of a work programme to lead the provision of finance business partnering support to the Directorates of the Strategic Director – Finance and Customer Services and the Assistant Chief Executive. The post holder reports to the Assistant Director – Financial Services.

If you are an ambitious CCAB qualified accountant with excellent management and leadership qualities, looking for a career enhancing opportunity to make a genuine difference, then we would love to hear from you.

Informal discussions with prospective candidates are welcomed.

To find out more about this role and the vision for Rotherham’s financial services of the future, please contact Judith Badger, Strategic Director, Finance & Customer Services, (01709 822046); or Graham Saxton, Assistant Director, Financial Services (01709 822034).

For full details on the role, please visit www.rotherham.gov/work

Applications from Women, people from Black and Minority Ethnic Communities and Disabled People are welcomed as under-representation currently exists at this level within the organisation. Section 159 of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

The posts are classed as 'politically restricted' under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended). The full details of the restrictions are set out in the Statutory Instrument, but broadly the restrictions prohibit candidature from public elected office; holding office in a political party; as well as involvement in political activities such as canvassing or public speaking/writing.

In order to support the Council’s requirement to save a further £41 million from its budget, by

collective agreement, from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2020 there is a temporary 1.15% pay reduction from the advertised substantive salary quoted, which will be spread out by means of a weekly/monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part time workers and new starters in year) will be granted.

The posts will have access to the Public Services Network, if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at the Basic level (unspent criminal convictions).
