About this job

Reporting to the Chief Accountant you will be responsible for all financial reporting processes to produce the statement of accounts. You will co-ordinate and control relevant statutory returns, statistics and grant claims, dealing with the necessary Government departments. You will be responsible for making sure that systems and procedures are robust and that relevant improvements are made to reflect any legislative and policy changes. This may involve supporting others through training to make sure that systems are adhered to. You will act as a point of contact for internal and external auditors and will make sure that files are prepared for them on a timely basis. You will manage a small team.

About you

You will be a full qualified accountant and are likely to have a strong background in local government accounting. You will have had experience of working with finance managers and service managers to make sure that processes are continually developed and that procedures are followed. You will be capable of planning the closure of accounts and be able to influence others so that deadlines are met. You must have strong systems knowledge including excel skills.
