Location: Bromley Civic Centre

Job Type: Full Time Permanent (36 hours per week) – Applications for part time or job share working arrangements will be considered

Bromley Council is seeking an experienced Pensions professional with an excellent working knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The post holder will have a thorough understanding of LGPS Regulations and be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a professional, high quality pensions service.

The key responsibilities of the post include:

  • Ensuring that the council fulfils its statutory  responsibilities
  • Managing and monitoring the performance of the Council’s external contractor with regards to pension administration
  • Keeping up to date with regulatory changes
  • Actively driving continuous improvement
  • Maintaining and updating the Council’s policies and discretions and continuously reviewing arrangements for the exercise of discretionary functions
  • Supporting the Local Pension Board
  • Liaising with Teachers Pensions and NHS pensions, ensuring the Council meets its responsibilities as an employing authority
  • Maintaining an effective communications strategy making full use of web-based material to ensure that key information reaches employers, employees, pensioners and deferred pensioners

The team have been through a successful period recently having won the LAPF award for best performing pension fund in 2017 and 2018 and have very recently won the Public Finance Innovation Award 2019 for pensions, treasury and asset management. It’s an exciting time to join a successful but ever-changing finance team with lots of work to do.
