Deputy Chief Finance Officer

Based in the heart of Leicester, the University Hospitals of Leicester is one of the biggest and busiest teaching NHS Trusts in the country. Operating primarily from three acute hospitals we serve the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and specialist services to another two to three million patients across the rest of the country. As well as having our own Children’s Hospital we work closely with partners at the University of Leicester and De Montfort University providing world-class teaching to nurture and develop the next generation of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

We continue to work with many different organisations across the globe to push the boundaries of research and new surgical procedures for the benefit of our patients, with around 1,000 clinical trials taking place every year, along with nationally and internationally-renowned specialist treatment and services in cardio-respiratory diseases, ECMO, cancer and renal and vascular disorders. In conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, the Deputy Chief Finance Officer is responsible for managing the Finance and Procurement Directorate, ensuring a high quality provision of service to the Trust whilst they embark on a large scale transformational change journey, as well as ensuring delivery of statutory financial duties and managing the Trusts procurement strategy within the context of the national framework.

As a Senior Member of the Finance leadership team, delivery against the Trust’s corporate objectives is paramount, in particular the Trust’s 19/20 objectives to achieve sustainable financial health. You will take personal responsibility for the Trust’s financial recovery and Trust wide change projects, ensuring the effective use of resources so that this is achieved without compromising standards. The Deputy Chief Finance Officer will display resilience and scale to their approach with an outstanding track record of delivering, with the ability to manage multiple projects and drive change. You will be a natural leader who can motivate and engage your staff through the change programme as they strive to provide the exceptional standards of patient care and experience the Trust prides itself on, whilst building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders and partners.

You will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and act on their behalf in a wide range of settings. Keen to fully utilise your broad ability, you will relish challenge and the career enhancing experience this role will provide.
