PO8: Starting salary £56,289 pa rising in annual increments to £60,480 pa incl LW plus Market Supplement £5,500 pa

Lambeth Council is looking to recruit a Group Manager to join its Children’s Finance Team. The position will report directly to the Assistant Director of Finance for Children’s Services. The role will be paramount in supporting Children Services manage current budget pressures and in the successful delivery of a challenging saving programme.

Applicants must have proven senior business partnering skills, and have experience of managing a team in a fast moving environment. The role will have direct management responsibility of three Accountants, a trainee Accountant and indirect management of two Assistant Accountants.

We have recently recruited permanent Accountants, resulting in the team being fully resourced, so it’s a great time to bring your experience and knowledge and lead a new and ambitious finance team.

The ability to constructively challenge, drive forward change and embed improvements proactively and independently is of great importance. The role will be both challenging and rewarding, and having experience of supporting Children’s Services will be advantageous. 

Due to complex budgets and activity data, the right candidate not only should be able to lead the team, but also have excellent analytical skills so you can get involved with and support financial modelling and ensure that all key decisions are supported by robust financial appraisal.
