Here at Rugby Borough Council, we’re growing. In fact, we’re proud to be one of the fastest growing towns in the country, with some of the most exciting commercial developments on the go. This has all been made possible thanks to our strong financial position. Now, we want to keep improving our services and achieve financial self-sufficiency by 2020. That’s where you come in.
As our Principal Accountant, you’ll champion excellent management of our financial resources. This means you’ll promote efficiencies, drive high performance and deliver excellent value for money services. One of your main priorities will be to lead our Treasury Management activities and strategy, along with our payments to suppliers.
Forward-thinking, you’ll also oversee the development of our financial reporting and monitoring tools. This way, our Budget Managers will help move us to a self-service approach when it comes to forecasting and planning. As part of this, you’ll also coordinate and deliver developments that are made to our financial systems. And as a real expert, others will come to you for direction on everything from financial strategies and policies, to standards and practices. Your advice will help us to make timely, well-informed decisions about major initiatives, projects and schemes.
With post-qualification experience in a professional finance environment, you’ll have sound understanding of Local Government policies and legislation. We’ll also expect you to be a fully qualified member of one of the accountancy institutes in CCAB, (preferably CIPFA), and to be comfortable challenging processes. And as a confident communicator, you’ll foster great working relationships with those you work with. Importantly, you’ll thrive under pressure and enjoy working to tight deadlines.
