Centrally located in the Thames Gateway, Gravesham Borough Council provides a range of services to over 95,000 people and 3,000 businesses. Bordered by the River Thames to the north, it is at the heart of Thames Gateway and has a significant role to play in the regeneration of a major government growth area.

Gravesham Borough Council is now seeking to recruit a Finance Officer to join its Financial Services Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of an effective and efficient customer-focused accountancy function, with the post focusing on the key financial processes of budget monitoring and budget-setting for revenue services, as well as assisting with final accounts.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to fulfil these roles with proven analytical and numerical skills and previous experience of financial administration, including working with and interrogating financial systems. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, organisation and IT skills with a working knowledge of Windows Office applications, in particular Excel, Word and Outlook.  To be successful in this role you should have an awareness of Local Government Finance and have the ability to meet deadlines working under pressure both as an individual and as a member of a team.

Applicants should be educated to at least GCSE level (or equivalent), with a minimum of four at grade C and above including Mathematics and English, whilst holding a part accountancy qualification, or similar vocational or business qualification is desirable.

Your position within this friendly and professional team will provide you with the opportunity to contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the Financial Service of the Council.

Occupational Health also works with us to resolve any issues in the workplace and also to ensure that well-being at work is maintained.
