A BOROUGH OF OPPORTUNITY.

THIS COULD BE YOURS.

Tower Hamlets offers the best of London in one borough. A place of opportunity that is at the heart of the UK economy, it boasts some of the capital’s biggest attractions and has one of the country’s most culturally rich populations. It’s a hub of business activity, from street stalls to boardrooms, and we are committed to ensuring that development in the borough benefits all the community, with the Council playing a key role in influencing and facilitating economic growth.

This is a central role within our organisation, with a portfolio covering a number of key enabling functions, including responsibility for leading the Council’s budget planning process and acting as the Council’s Deputy S151 Officer. You’ll ensure that sound business principles underpin an organisational culture where risk is managed thorough sound governance arrangements. The emphasis will be on your leadership skills, shaping a centralised Finance team that can provide expert advice to support service delivery. It’s a role that demands a blend of technical expertise, to establish professional credibility, and a highly developed appreciation of business partnering, enabling you to support and challenge your peers.

Visit www.th-opportunity.co.uk or contact Steve Guest at Solace in Business on 020 7976 3311 for a confidential discussion.

Closing date: 3 June.

Company

Tower Hamlets is one of the UK's most culturally vibrant and diverse areas. The borough is densely populated, with over 200,000 people living in eight square miles at the heart of London's East End. Some 49 per cent of residents are from black and minority ethnic communities. We have Investors in People status, have achieved the highest level of the Equality Framework for Local Government and are committed to recruiting a workforce to reflect our community.

Challenges do still remain and deprivation and poverty is present in the area, providing a stark contrast to the wealth and prosperity that has grown around Canary Wharf and the City fringes.

The Council is making capital investment of some £300 Million over the period 2014/15 to 2016/17 and there are a number of high profile capital projects being designed and delivered during this period. We are seeking people with ambition, creativity and commitment to ensure our economic growth and capital investment provides benefits for everyone and create opportunities to transform the lives of local residents.

Against this background, a professional, independent and objective internal audit service is vital for promoting good governance across the Council.
