As the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) takes on more enforcement cases and approaches the UK’s exit from the EU, our accounts receivable function is increasingly having more demands and pressure placed on it, which is expected to increase. To ensure these demands are met and to help shape and develop a strong financial culture we require a fully qualified CCAB accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) to play a pivotal role in the Finance Team.

The CMA is the UK’s world-leading government body, established to promote fair competition, within and outside the UK, to support economic growth and protect the best interests of consumers and businesses. Whether it is taking enforcement action against drug firms accused of over-charging the NHS, investigating hotel booking sites to check their customers are getting the best deals from them, or launching a major study into the care homes industry, what we do makes a difference to people’s lives.

In this role, you will support, in conjunction with another Financial Accountant, the production of the CMA’s monthly, interim and full year accounts, and liaise with the National Audit Office (NAO) and other key stakeholders on the correct accounting treatment of receivables. You will also be responsible for the Accounts Receivable function and will lead specifically on delivering the recommendations of internal audit as well banking relationships, bank account reconciliations, CHAPS and overseas payments and raising of accounting journals.

If you possess the above qualifications, or equivalent, are highly numerate, with strong knowledge of Excel and financial accounting systems, with strong analytical skills and line management experience we would be delighted to hear from you.
