This is an exciting opportunity for a fully qualified CCAB accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) to play a key role in developing a strong financial culture at the Competition and Market’s Authority (CMA) and gain experience in a wide array of financial aspects, as well as exposure to EU Exit related activity.

The CMA is the UK’s world-leading government body, established to promote fair competition, within and outside the UK, to support economic growth and protect the best interests of consumers and businesses. Whether it is taking enforcement action against drug firms accused of over-charging the NHS, investigating hotel booking sites to check their customers are getting the best deals from them, or launching a major study into the care homes industry, what we do makes a difference to people’s lives.

In this role, you will lead, in conjunction with another Financial Accountant, on producing the CMA’s monthly, interim and full year accounts, and liaise with the National Audit Office (NAO) and other key stakeholders on the correct accounting treatment of transactions. You will also be responsible for the Transactions Team and ensuring that valid invoices and expenses are paid promptly.  Recent changes to this team have seen significant improvements in payment performance and communication with the wider business and the finance team needs to continue to develop and strengthen these initiatives.

If you possess the above qualifications, or equivalent, are highly numerate, with strong knowledge of Excel and financial accounting systems, with strong analytical skills and line management experience we would be delighted to hear from you.
