Head of Finance - Local Government
Allen Lane are currently working with a local authority to recruit a Head of Finance to lead their business partnering function and ensure it is providing expert financial advice to all councils services. Dealing with Directors and senior stakeholders, the successful candidate must be able to hit the ground running and have performed at a senior level within local government previously.
As such, key objectives include;
- Providing leadership to staff across the finance function, motivating and establishing strong relationships internally
- Provision of sound financial information and advice to the senior management team, ensuring accuracy and relevancy
- Advising and reporting to elected Members and the Corporate Management Board across a range of financial issues
- Making a positive contribution to a range of corporate projects to further the realisation of the Council’s objectives
CCAB qualified, the successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and motivate and develop the team to deliver their accountancy functions to the required level. Strong strategic skills will be required, with the ability to assess the changing needs for financial resources in the medium to long term. Adaptability will also be key, as the team has recently gone through some internal changes so you will need to work effectively in a potentially challenging environment.
