Add value where it matters most

MI5, MI6 and GCHQ, our UK intelligence agencies, work together to keep the country safe. Behind the scenes, there is an exceptional Finance team providing outstanding support. As a Finance Senior Accountant it is here that you will be tasked with vital work that shapes all three agencies’ business decisions. Working across a broad range of areas to help them manage their money, you will be adding value where it matters most.

About the role

You could join us as a Management Accountant or a Programme Accountant. In both roles, you will lead a small team, accountable for delivery of a range of critical financial services. You will provide expert financial advice to financial and non-financial cross-agency customers, ensuring we get the most from our resources.

Management Accountant (London or Cheltenham)

You will manage provision of high quality monthly MI reporting, ensuring it is presented in a way that’s understandable to its audience and enables effective decision making. You will support the annual planning cycle and work to ensure that cost consciousness is an automatic reflex. When necessary, the role will include designing and developing new MI, participating in ad hoc analytic reviews and financial scenario planning.

Programme Accountants (Cheltenham only)

Whether you are assigned one major change programme or a suite of smaller programmes, you will tackle budgeting, in-year management and outturn position. It means providing high-level financial advice and ad hoc analysis on everything from business cases to asset accounting. Whatever the task, there will be tight deadlines, both for you and your team. Highly organised, you will see that these are met while giving your expert perspective on various programme governance boards.

About you

You will be ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA qualified (or affiliate CCAB qualified). You will have practical skills in one or more areas: management accounting or business analyst roles accustomed to delivering financial MI to a wide range of customers; or previous experience of programme/project accounting within a major projects organisation. While technical expertise is key, it must come with a talent for solving problems, natural people skills and the commitment to develop the capability of your team and colleagues.

We particularly welcome applications from women and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates.

Apply now and make an impact where it counts.

To apply you must be a born or naturalised British citizen. You should not discuss your application, other than with your partner or a close family member, providing that they are British. They should also be made aware of the importance of discretion.
