Matthew Scott, the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner, and the Chief Constable of Kent Police have a Joint Audit Committee to provide an independent and high level focus on the assurance that underpin their good governance and financial standards, as evidenced by Kent Police’s recent HMIC report.

  • Understanding of risk control in both the strategic and operational context
  • Experience of applying and working within effective internal controls

  • High level experience of scrutinising financial information & processes
  • Willingness to give the time commitment (including reading, preparation time and ad hoc meetings).
  • Experience of operating at a senior level in a complex organisation with a variety of stakeholder interests.

Knowledge of public sector finances and their scrutiny, and audit processes would be an asset.

In addition, applications from those with particular experience in strategic HR or IT would be particularly welcome.
