St Helena Government offers an extraordinary opportunity for a senior audit manager to join the Saint Helena Audit Service and support the Chief Auditor in delivering the statutory external audit function.  This demanding but rewarding role will allow you to apply your professional expertise in external audit and make a major contribution to public accountability at a key time in the economic development of the Island.

A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK.  With the opening of an international airport in 2017 there is now a weekly scheduled flight from Johannesburg with onward international connections.

Reporting to the Chief Auditor you will manage the operations of the Saint Helena Audit Service with prime responsibility for managing the planning and delivery of financial and performance audits in accordance with international standards across a diverse portfolio of public sector bodies.  You will also lead the management of audit methodologies, systems and quality control.

As a qualified accountant you will have proven experience in managing ISA compliant external audits ideally in a public sector environment and leading assurance or consulting assignments to improve value for money.  With strong practice management skills you will be able to develop audit team members in planning and delivering audit engagements to time and quality standards.  You will also know how to engage with your clients to maintain effective communication and provide technical leadership adding value to the statutory audit process.

In addition to salary we offer an extensive benefits package including tax-free international supplement, relocation/freight allowance, fare-paid return travel and intra-contract leave, and contribution to pension.
