About us
In April 2017 the London Borough of Sutton and the Royal Borough of Kingston launched an exciting new Shared Finance Service. Our ambition is to ‘Add Value, Inspire Success’ and we currently have a number of exciting opportunities for capable and positive individuals who are ready to join us in realising this ambition.

About the role
You will be responsible for maximisation of income collection and arrears reduction on a patch of up to 1000 residential council properties. You will be assisting tenants in financial difficulty and signposting them to support services to help them sustain their tenancy.

Where preventative action fails, you will be required to take appropriate recovery steps and possible legal action to recover the debt.

The role requires regular monitoring of rent accounts to detect and prevent arrears in accordance with the pre-action protocol and the council’s arrears recovery procedure.

About you
Ideally we're looking for someone with previous experience in the social housing sector but would consider applicants with the ability to demonstrate experience within a similar income/debt collection role or front line customer facing service . We need skilled and effective communicators and confident negotiators who are able to liaise with a variety of stakeholders in order to deliver challenging rent collection targets. We are willing to grow our own talent for those that have strong customer service skills and experience in a customer-facing role, with potential, an eagerness to learn, and an interest in pursuing a career in rent recovery in local government.

Our offer
We can offer you a supportive environment to grow and develop your career with the opportunity to put your ideas across. Innovation and ambition strongly encouraged here in Sutton and Kingston, and you’ll get a great feel for that working in our friendly and collaborative environment.

In addition, we offer a modern and flexible working environment for our staff allowing you to work flexibly from our Sutton and Kingston Offices, whilst on the move, and at home following the introduction of Google Chromebooks and Google Apps, which have acted as a key enabler for collaborative and streamlined working.

We also offer a huge variety of staff benefits including:

  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Flexi-time
  • Local and national discounts for shopping, eating out and leisure activities
  • Interest-free season ticket loans
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Bicycle loan facilities and cycle to work scheme
  • Subsidised gym membership

Interested?
Please apply online by uploading your CV and a supporting statement outlining why you would be a great fit for this role, and what skills, experience and knowledge you can bring. Please ensure you refer to Job Profile when completing your supporting statement.
