Job Details

We want to recruit a talented and enthusiastic person to join our professional and friendly internal audit team into the post of principal auditor.

It is an interesting and varied role as the successful candidate will undertake a range of audit processes across all council areas, from regeneration to refuse collecting.

Ideally, you will be a CCAB qualified accountant or IIA qualified auditor (or working towards one of these professional qualifications) or be AAT qualified with at least three years' experience at a senior level in an audit environment.  You will also be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of audit planning, current audit techniques, be computer literate and possess excellent analytical and communication skills.

You will report to the chief internal auditor through an audit manager to help ensure the adequacy of internal control and the proper, efficient and effective use of resources.

You will assist with the management of a small audit team and have the opportunity to help develop and extend our work to ensure compliance with sound financial management practices.

You will also need to demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment and an ability to encourage and motivate other members of the team.
