Be the catalyst for improvement – and better financial management

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service that’s dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognised as a provider of a world-class service for the protection of nuclear material and facilities. Given the critical nature of our work, it’s vital that we recruit skilled and committed professionals to our high-performing team.  As our Head of Financial Management, you’ll help us develop new ways of working so we can make the most of our money.

This is a chance to devise a smart financial strategy that will help us be more efficient. Leading a newly formed team, you’ll put your plans into action and ensure that everything we do involves sound economic thinking. With the help of Finance Business Partners, you’ll see that managers consider costs and strive for value for money, so we can make our resources go as far as possible. You’ll also lead budgeting, forecasting and 3 to 5 year financial planning, reporting back to internal boards.  With the opportunity to develop the way we work so we rely less on manual input, you can make your mark and create a more effective CNC.

A qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/CIPFA/ACCA or equivalent), you’ll have an in-depth understanding of finance management. Degree-educated, you have expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, option appraisal, costing and forecasting. You’re also able to analyse highly complex statistical data, forming insights and solving problems innovatively.

You may have gained your experience in either the private or public sector. Either way, you’ll understand the impact of our operating model and be comfortable working at senior levels. Crucially, you’ll also be a capable leader who can instigate change. Commercially sharp and good with people, you’ll forge connections across the Constabulary.
