Birmingham is a dynamic and fast-moving Council where you will face new challenges every day. In this role you will be part of the corporate management of a range of key financial activities.

Your role will be to lead the City Council’s treasury management operations, managing a loan debt of £3.5 billion, investments of £100 million, and daily cash flows of up to £100m.

You will ensure sound treasury systems and procedures are in operation, and carry out budget preparation, monitoring and financial accounting responsibilities for the treasury and bank management function. You will manage the Council’s banking arrangements and will contribute to capital management and control.

You will contribute to the formulation of the Council’s treasury policy and strategy and will have excellent analytical and advanced accounting skills. You will be able to understand complex market products, interpret market data and you will have a well-developed awareness of financial risk and risk management.

You will lead a team of 7 and work as part of an integrated Corporate Finance team co-ordinating the Council’s finances.

You will be an experienced CCAB qualified accountant, able to deal with technical complexity as well as communicating clearly and building strong relationships with a wide range of expert and general stakeholders.
